Winter in Nara has a unique chill that seems to rise from your feet up. In the mornings, you can really feel the depth of winter when you see the whiteness of your breath as you leave the front door.
This may be a bit sudden, but have you ever visited Nara Park in winter?
There, you can see deer relaxing and enjoying themselves, not giving in to the cold.
When you look at them with those round, sweet eyes, it feels like your heart is gradually becoming warm and cozy.
In fact, the reason they have been able to live in this land unchanged for hundreds of years is because of the desire of many people to protect them.
Today, I would like to talk about a new project we are currently working on to protect the Nara deer.
As we have already announced in the "Announcements" section of our website, NARAMAKI has been taking on a major challenge since the end of last year. This is our third crowdfunding project, " Creema SPRINGS ."

We have been supported by your warm support in all of our previous challenges, but this time we have focused in particular on the deer that are a symbol of our hometown, Nara, and have been designated a national natural monument as the "Nara deer."
The purpose of this project is to create a future where we can continue to coexist with deer.
Specifically, we will donate a portion of the support we receive from you through this project ( 5 % of sales) to the Nara Deer Protection Association, a general incorporated foundation.
The Nara Deer Protection Society ( https://naradeer.com/ ) has been watching over deer since its founding in 1934. They protect and raise the deer to protect their health, conduct research into their ecology, and raise awareness to spread the kindness of "deer protection." The members of the society also preserve and pass on traditional events such as the annual "deer antler cutting."
The reason we can naturally interact with deer and smile at them is because of the hard work of the conservation societies who work every day.
This donation will be used for general deer conservation activities.
Now, have you heard about the recent situation of the deer in Nara?
In fact, the number of deer in Nara is gradually increasing. This in itself is a very welcome development, but as numbers increase, problems inevitably arise. There are far more issues that we must face than we might imagine, such as poor tourist etiquette, traffic accidents caused by deer running out into the wild, and maintaining a healthy environment for the deer.
Even so, Nara Park is always beautiful and the deer are able to live at ease thanks to the members of the conservation society who continually educate tourists about proper etiquette and pick up trash in the park, supporting a culture in which deer and humans coexist.
The Nara deer, a natural monument, should be protected not just as animals but as precious treasures. This project began with the idea that we could help in some way with this idea.
And now, for this project, I have created a new embroidery pattern for "Naramaki"!
The name is "Watch out for deer jumping out."
The motif is that somewhat cute sign that everyone will see at least once when driving through the city of Nara.
"I hope no more tragic accidents occur."
"Please keep a kind eye on the deer ( living in nature ( Nara ) ) "
It expresses the hope that wild animals, deer, and the people who watch over them can coexist with compassion. ( Or, simply, it is a design that expresses this wish .)
In addition to this new design [Watch out for the deer jumping out], the popular deer series [Mother and child deer and deer crackers], [Nara deer and the crosswalk], and [Deer and hot springs] have also been made into sticker patches!
These patches can be easily stuck anywhere you like, such as on your notebook, smartphone case, or work desk.
The Nara deer will always be there to accompany you in your everyday life. It's fun to choose a different design for your patch .
This crowdfunding project will be running on " Creema SPRINGS " until 10:00 AM on March 12 , 2026 , leaving just one month left for the project.
